Keep an eye on our Thursday email for SS material, encouragement, article recommendations, etc. to encourage you during this "stay at home" order. We are also working on community assistance initiatives, that includes meals.  Things like food delivery, grocery shopping, etc… are all things that will be needed in the upcoming weeks for folks who are at a higher risk for infection. There is a description in the Thursday email, contact Mary Farney (263-1089) if you have any questions.  If you have any other ideas regarding community needs and would like to help implement those plans, call or email the office! The opportunities are seemingly endless right now, please be in prayer about opportunities you may have near you.

Please check on your neighbors and people who may not have a church support system. Pray for each other, and be the hands and feet of Jesus.

Mask Need Request

Update from 4/2/20
Our mask making community has been productive!  We now have over 100 masks that will be headed to Social Services in Peoria Friday!  We are praising God for the strength, stamina and materials we have to be able to do this and asking Him to bring protection to the vulnerable children within DCFS as well as their social workers and caregivers!  If others have masks finished at their homes please deliver to church so they can be included in the first shipment!  If you are unable to make it into church, call NCF and someone can do a porch pick-up.
Some additional information to assist all the Mask Makers out there:
  • There is fabric and interfacing at the church.
  • More elastic is projected to arrive Saturday, hopefully!
Keep sewing!  Each stitch matters for those who risk much!

Original post from 3/31/20

In response to requests for homemade masks a team of ladies at NCF have been organizing and sewing homemade surgical masks and N95 covers since last Monday. Just recently, notices put out both by OSF and Unity Point requesting homemade masks has legitimized the need for extra help.  And here is how you can help!

We need people willing to sew.

  • Email Carol Birkey at This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. and she can send you the patterns as well as address any questions. At the moment, surgical masks are needed more than N95 covers. You can also follow directions that have been publicized on-line by Unity Point or OSF.

We need donations of the following supplies:

  • 1/8” and 1/4” elastic (all stores are out of elastic already so the elastic would have to be from your own home)
  • interfacing (fusible or sew-in interfacing is acceptable)

Cards and Notes of encouragement will also be included with the masks.

  • This is a great opportunity to thank our community’s healthcare providers for their sacrifice. Those also can be dropped off at the church.

If you have supply donations, please take them to the APR where a station will be set up. If you are able to sew, you can pick up your needed supplies at this same place as donations come in.  Additionally, a box will be there for finished masks.

The kitchen door will be open from 8am until 3pm every weekday.  Be mindful to maintain social distancing and please take a wipe with you (we will leave some on the counter) for you to take out the door with you, cleaning the handles as you go.

The current Mask Maker team also includes Sonya Hillrich, Jamie Lucas, Brinlee Pflederer, Merry Sumer and Laura Stuber.

2:42 Groups

Coming up in the next few days we have the singular greatest EVENT in all of human history that distinguishes us Christians from all other religions. We celebrate the RESURRECTION as transformational fact! As a church family we are unable to meet together however I wanted to give an idea or two that your 2:42 Community may be able to run with:
  • IDEA 1 - If you live in an area such as a cul-de-sac or dead end, perhaps through email, phone or text you can invite neighbors to the end of their driveways (please obey social distancing regulations). Once there you could:
    • Sing a few songs with or without instruments (Up From the Grave He Arose, Christ the Lord is Risen Today, or here is a list Hillsong put together: click here).
    • Read portions of John 20 and I Cor. 15:1-22. I encourage you to look those passages up and use a few select verses.
  • IDEA 2 - Create a Zoom meeting invitation (click here for info) and invite neighbors, 2:42 Community, or anyone else. Once that is set up and a time selected do the same as IDEA 1.

Then join us for the 10:30am prayer service and the 11am Easter service live-streamed HERE!
